The aim of this course is to allow learners the opportunity to work in the graphic pre-press sector, to acquire and apply competencies required for safe, effective work practices at AQF level III. The course has been designed to provide a balanced program of training in practical, technical and theoretical desktop publishing skills used by the graphic Arts and allied industries.

This course equips learners with the portable skills necessary to achieve employment in a broad range of professional graphic design and all kind of print media products as well as having a regard for quality control and other important professional production principles.

Topics include the following: design principles for desktop publishing, fundamentals of computer operation and DTP production using Adobe Illustrator, page assembly using Adobe Photoshop, capturing and correcting a digital image for pre-press, pre-press and internet publishing using Adobe Acrobat, and desktop production and pre-press

Entry Requirements

Domestic Students
Pre-requisites for entry into this course are:

  • Students must be over 18 years of age,
  • Students must have completed Year 12 or the interstate equivalent

International Students
Pre-requisites for entry into this course are:

  • Students must be over 18 years of age,
  • Students must have an overseas equivalent of Year 12
  • Students must have an IELTS score of 5.5 or above and must provide documentation to that effect.
